Birdsong provides more weird criminal law stories.  Unfortunately they are all true.

Winsted, CT: Pup Tent Pervert.  A rapist and high risk sex offender in Connecticut was arrested after he pitched a tent and lured children inside with candy and ice cream. Robert Logan, 34, a registered sex offender from Arkansas was charged with fourth degree sexual assault and breach of peace. Police say Logan offered candy, ice cream and money to several children one July weekend after pitching a tent at the edge of a parking lot behind an apartment building. A 7 year old told her parents that Logan “pulled her bathing suit away from her bottom and looked at her bottom. The parents reported this to police. Logan denies anything inappropriate. Logan sits in jail with his bond set at $125,000.

Yep, jail is where he belongs.

Lake Mary, FL: A 35 year old Kristie Lee Mathis was arrested and faces 12 counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor.  This after the parents of a 17 year old complained to the police about her involvement with their son.  The teenager told police that between mid May and mid July there were at least 12 incidents of sexual activity between him and Mathis. Police arrested Mathis at a Bar near Lake Mary a short time after she drove away from a traffic stop in which she had been a passenger in a vehicle driven by the 17 year old victim.  Her bail was set at $12,000.

PYT.  Seems she likes pretty young things.

Sanford, FL:  Kristie Lee Mathis, a 35 year old Lake Mary woman, already facing charges of sexual activity with a 17 year old boy just days before was charged with lewd and lascivious behavior involving a 14 year old boy as she was being released form jail on bond. The new charge stems from an allegation by the boy who told police that in March he was at the woman’s home and they were sitting on her couch watching a movie when she began to rub him through his clothes.  The boy said he grabbed her hand and made her stop.

Good for him!

Mobile, AL: Police believe a body found in a small time evangelist’s home freezer is his wife and a mother of eight.  Police arrested him on a murder charges as he preached in at a southern Alabama church.  Anthony Hopkins, 37, was being held in jail awaiting a bond hearing.  Police said no one reported 36 year old Arletha Hopkins missing, even though she had not been heard from in three years.  The body was discovered in a freezer in a utility room during a police search of the home.

Eight children and nobody missed her!  Sounds mighty suspicious…
