Florida is a wonderful place to live.  Birdsong loves it here.  Here are a few weird news stories from Florida for your reading enjoyment.

Orlando, FL: A man entered a Greenacres Restaurant in mid-July, 2009, and asked for change for a $10 bill.  When the cashier asked to see the bill, the man reportedly began screaming, “I want change!”  Police said the man then grabbed about $40 from a tip box, picked up the cash register and ran out.  The officer who arrested him — still carrying the register while running down the street — had just come from reviewing surveillance footage at a nearby convenience store, where lottery tickets had been stolen a day earlier.  By chance, the officer identified the man as the thief  from the footage.

Actually, running with a cash register can be more dangerous than running with scissors…

Winter Park, FL: The family of Charles Gaal Jr., 90, is suing a Winter Park dentist who allegedly dropped tools down Gaal’s throat, including an implant screwdriver and a mini-wrench.  Unfortunately, Gaal never fully recovered and he died in 2007.

Bethlehem, PA:  His sons might think he is the dad of the year, but prosecutors think he’s a pervert.  Steven Russo pleaded guilty in Bethlehem to hosting a drunken teen party where he put up a stripper pole and encouraged high school cheerleaders to dance.  Wouldn’t you know it, photos of the event ended up on the Internet.  Russo pleaded guilty to corruption of minors.

Perv !

Harrisburg, PA: A retired police chief said he was held up by “‘the dumbest criminal in Pennsylvania,” which may be an understatement.  A 19 year old man is under arrest for allegedly robbing John Comparetto at gunpoint — while the victim was attending a conventions of narcotics cops

 Brazil:  Two German tourists were arrested in Brazil after stripping naked and changing clothes in an airport terminal.  They told police they thought this was “was normal,” since it was Brazil.  Cops were not amused and asked them to leave the country.

China: A Chinese thief was cornered in an alley by cops, and mooned them.  Although the cops were taken aback,

Utah: Police say a Utah man was pulling up his pants after using a toilet at a Carl’s Jr. restaurant when his pistol fell to the floor and fired, blowing up the toilet and wounding him with shards of flying porcelain.

He was aiming to be stupid and he was right on target.

Daytona Beach:  A teenage girl who participated in Daytona spring-break contests involving wet T-shirts, bananas and coital positions can’t file suit over photos of her antics posted on the Internet.  She claimed she had been tricked into acting in a “sexually explicit” way.  However, a three judge panel of the Florida Fifth District Court of Appeals ruled that none of her bawdy acts was truly “explicit.”
