Chicago, IL: A man in his 80’s accidentally shot his wife and niece on a Sunday, summer afternoon in 2009. The out of town man was playing with a gun on the south side of Chicago when the weapon accidentally discharged about 2:10 pm, police said. The bullet went through his wife’s leg and then struck his niece. The wife, in her 70’s, and a niece in her 50’s, were taken to the hospital. Police detectives say the shooting was accidental and no charges are expected to be filled.
What an old fool! Two victims with one shot.
Elk Grove, CA: A northern California elementary school teacher sent her students home for the summer with a video of class memories, only the DVD included six seconds of her having sex on a couch. Officials at the Elk Grove Unified School District asked families of the teacher’s 24 students to get rid of the DVD after the unintended clip was found spliced into a scene where children were sharing stories in class. “Just destroy them,” said spokeswoman Torrey Johnson. No word yet whether charges will be filed against the teacher.
Wonder what she was trying to teach….?
San Antonio, TX: A Texas grandma will serve nine years in prison for drowning her 3 month old granddaughter in what her defense attorney said was a misguided effort to teach the baby to swim. Gabriella Sigler was watching little Melody Sigler in 2005 when she allegedly put her in a friend’s pool. She had told her son earlier that she was teaching Melody to swim like she had seen on the TV show “water babies.”
New York, NY: One of the New York Police Department’s newest officers made his first arrest just minutes after graduating from the Police Academy in a ceremony at Madison Square Garden. Officer Dariel Firpo, 23, was leaving the ceremony when he saw a 79 year old man being robbed of his wallet and thrown to the ground by a mugger, authorities said. The mugger tried to run away, but Firpo caught him without incident, they said. “He’s off to a great start,” Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said.
Yep, taking a bite out of crime on his first day on the job…
