Buffalo, NY: Ho no! A retired New York judge is going to prison for procuring prostitutes for his social club. Ronald Tillis, who also served in the state Assembly, was sentenced in federal court in Buffalo to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty last year to transporting prostitutes across state lines. He was a member of the Royal Order of Jesters when he hired the prostitutes to attend meetings between 2001 and 2008. One of the women had appeared before him when he was a judge. His lawyer says Tillis abused alcohol and suggested that the judge’s personality may have changed after heart surgery in 2002.
The lawyer should have argued the judge was transporting the women to a “Ho-down.”
Paris, France: France’s struggle with Islamic dress moved to the swimming pool in mid-August after a 35 year old woman was banned from bathing in the head to toe swimsuit known as the “burkini.” The woman, identified only as Carole, was making her third burkini outing to the town pool on the eastern outskirts of Paris, when the chief lifeguard ordered her to leave. She was said to be breaking hygiene rules, but her ejection was seen as another clash between fundamentalist Muslims and the country that has banned head coverings from schools and may curb face covering in public.
Allah Akbar!
Montpelier, VT: A New Jersey man was arrested in Vermont for driving backward. Drunk. On a highway. The 46 year old driver was stopped on Interstate 89 near Montpelier. A breathalyzer test showed he had a blood alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit.
Hic…
Fairbanks, AK: The good news: an Alaska woman realized she should not be driving since she had too much to drink. The bad news: she put her 7 year old son behind the wheel. A Fairbanks judge sentenced 37 year old Karen Koch to three years probation.
She will not get the “Parent of the Year Award” this year…
San Antonio, TX: A police officer in San Antonio, Texas, was driving so recklessly while trying to pull people over that other officers stopped him and discovered he was stinking drunk. Lt. Arthur MacCubbin, 47, Deputy of the year in 2006, was charged with DWI and put on leave.
Well, if you can’t beat them – join them!
Adds new meaning to a ‘change of heart’… and from a member of the Royal Order of Jesters – I wonder if that august body created the first burkini?
