Weird Criminal Law Stories 8

Birdsong has found more weird criminal law stories out there for your consideration.

So consider this…

Three Rivers, MI: Spencer Taylor, an overzealous “Joker” fan, who resided in Three Rivers, was arrested after attempting to steal movie posters. Spencer was charged with felony larceny and malicious destruction of property after trying to rip off memorabilia of the new Batman movie The Dark Knight, at a local theater.  Taylor was dressed in a full costume and makeup resembling the “Joker” a character from the film.

Is this what the French call “cinema verite?” Or, is it life imitating art?

Knoxville, TN:  Jim Adkisson, 58, was arrested and accused of opening fire with a shotgun and killing two people at a Unitarian church. He had apparently targeted the church’s congregation out of hatred for its liberal policies, police said. Adkisson was a stranger to the church where he opened fire during a children’s performance of the musical Annie.  In addition to the two people killed, seven others were wounded. Police Chief Sterling Owen IV said, “It appears that what brought him to this horrible event was his lack of being able to obtain a job…and his stated hatred of the liberal movement.”  The Unitarian-Universalist church promotes progressive social work, including advocacy of women’s and gay rights.

There they go again, bitter and clinging to their guns and religion!
