NEW YORK: Vandal judge out! The judge resigned after “keying” a town official’s car for denying his request for health insurance, according to the state Commission on Judicial Conduct. Former Lewis County Justice Gregory Burker, who had held his position for two decades, was piqued over the town’s decision to deny him medical coverage, so he took out his frustration on an unnamed official’s parked car, authorities said. Burker pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of criminal mischief in October 2020 and resigned effective December 31, and agreed never to seek judicial office again.
NEW YORK: Police pepper spray a child! Newly released bodycam videos show Rochester police pepper spraying a 9-year-old girl. Footage from the video shot during a family dispute shows the distraught girl running from police, then dropping to the snow-coved ground as an officer tries to bring her back to the home. “I want my dad!” the girl screams in a second video and says she will not get into the police car until she could see her father. The girl was handcuffed and placed in the police car where she continued screaming, when an officer finally says, “Just spray her at this point,” another officer is seen spraying the girl. Both the Rochester Chief of Police and the Mayor were unhappy about this episode and said they would work to ensure this type of thing never happens again. The whole thing started when the child said she wanted to kill herself and her mom.
JAPAN: Cool Mom? A woman was recently arrested after her mother’s body was found in the freezer of her Tokyo apartment. The body had been bent to fit in the freezer, police said. Yumi Yoshino, 48, said she hid the body 10 years ago after coming home and finding her 60-year-old mother dead because she didn’t want to move out of their home. There was no visible wounds on the frozen body, police said. The body was reportedly discovered after Yoshino had been evicted from the apartment due to missing rent payments. Yoshino was arrested. No further information on her situation.
