Weird Criminal Law Stories # 659: Pervert Cop?

NEW YORK CITY:  “Perv Police officer rearrested,” read the headline. The NYPD officer accused of masturbating while asking a 10-year-old girl to lick her underwear was arrested again in November 2020, for endangering the welfare of a child. The officer, Shaun Frazier, 40, was arrested in Brooklyn just after 12:30 pm and was charged with acting injurious to a child. Frazier was originally arrested in September 2019 for allegedly sexually assaulting his friend’s 10-year-old daughter. He denied the charges of any wrongdoing in 2019, but was suspended without pay, sources said. The current arrest is a new case, prosecutors said.

ALASKA: Grisly bear death by airplane?  We learn from a report that a brown bear crossing a runway in Yakutat was killed when it was struck by a landing Alaska Airlines flight on a Saturday evening. The bear’s two-year-old cub survived, and no one was injured on the Boeing 737-700, which was left with a damaged left engine cowl after the accident. “The nose gear missed the bears, but the captain felt impact on the left side after the bears passed under the plane,” the airline said in a statement.

AUSTRAILIA: “Not so fast cowboy,” Read the headline to this one. A man was arrested for stealing $7,300 worth of cowboy hats by stuffing them into a plastic wheelie trash bin and bolting. The 32-year-old, caught later, was charged with breaking into the shop in Scone, New South Wales, and snatching dozens of straw and felt cowboy caps valued at around $200 each.
